Warranty on Optimax. Can they be extended?

Had a 175 opti in the dealer a few times due to alternator loosening, sticking cylinder thermostat and faulty air/fuel sensor.

Standard warranty is 3 year which will run out soonish. Can you pay to extend the warranty with Mercury? Can you purchase an aftermarket warranty? Anyone had any experience of these as i know with cars, some aftermarket ones aren't worth the paper they are written on.

As far as I know you cannot purchase extended warranty with Barrus.

I also don't know of any third party companies offering warranty policies but I wouldn't be surprised if there is one out there somewhere.
