Thanks
At "trolling" speeds the E-tec is extremely good on fuel running at about 1.2 litres per hour

At 6-7 knots I am seeing about 7 litres per hour

At 20knots about 18 litres per hour

At 30 knots about 30 litres per hour

At 40 knots about 48 litres per hour

At 44 knots about 55 litres per hour.

Just what I needed to know, ta

A little more than I had hoped but the 20-30 knot bracket is not too bad - better than my old 2 stroke anyway though I suspect a Destroyer with a Zook 4 stroke would use less but then so might a 5.8 Vmax.

Still you gets what you pays for

I would be suprised if you did not see quite an improvement over those figures with a 5.8 .

Yes I hope I might see a bit of an improvement.

Having thought about it a bit more, I think I am going to have to spend the extra and get the 150 just for the "yeeha" factor I reckon the extra ccs will be worth more in terms of torque and response than the 20hp difference would suggest and a 2.6L V6 producing 150hp has to be less stressed . Never even seen an Etec, so just guessing, it will be the first one here

I think what used to bog me off with the Johnson is that sometimes it seemed to use nearly as much fuel at idle as it did cruising.

The next six months is going to be such a long one, especially since we now seem to be getting a summer at last - a week after I sold the boat

Stephen, what's the 'crumpet' situation like in the Falklands? I can't imagine that the watefront is chocker with hot young choo choos waving as you go by in your new shiney Vipermax.

No, not really sorry it is an entirely selfish purchase, just cos I want one

The Mrs wants something with a roof but all options are either too expensive or too boring ....
