In some countries you pay taxes according to the number of HP. That could be a reason. Yamaha does the same with the VMax 250. It has 275 HP and not 250 as indicated on the engine.

Just fitted the 250 Etec on the boat. Same speed but more bottom power.

im confused as to what you get with a verrado engine in terms of steering...?? if its got this unique power steering do they supply the bi that fits to the hub?? it says everthing for a turn key install in brochure!

i think seaharrier is right about ho engines having greater o/ps, 247 i think is the quoted 225 hp figure.

I belive that the power steering is electric rather than hydraulic, so there is no need for the bit behind the steering wheel.

I talked with the Evinrude importer for Europe last weekend about the H.O. He confirmed it has the same amount of HP than the E-tec 250HP. Only difference is the gear case. The H.O. is specially designed for very light boats (the kind of boats they use in the US for Bass fishing on lakes). On a heavy rib (above 1000 kg) there is no difference in speed of acceleration between the 250HP and the 225HO. Especially not when navigating on the sea.

then surely it would just be a wheel bolted to some fibreglass?? how would you tell the boat which way to go, there must be a sender or somet
