I have declined for now and see what happens, the £450 for each engine for just a routine sevice is enough thank you.
Has anyone else heard of this?
We fit many 250/300 Verados to our stingher boats and have found them to be very good.
The 1st service should be carried out at 20 hours not 50, and as you quite rightly said every 100 hours or every 12 months thereafter, whichever is the sooner.
With regard to the servicing costs, I always used a Mercury dealer and find that my 1st service works out to approx £250. After all the 1st service is an inspection, filters and lub service only.
For the first 100 hour service I would expect the cost to be between £450 - 480. So are you sure the dealer is not carrying out a 100 hour service?
With regard to coils, there has been the odd case of a faulty coil, although I have never had one go wrong. However I have checked for you with two independant Mercury dealers and there is no need to change all the coils as stated by this dealer, on the off chance that something might go wrong.
I would be very interested in knowing who the dealer is as many of my customers are based around the Poole area, and I would not like them to get bad or wrong service.
