Upgrade engine or not?

Ok, a couple of questions for all you experts out there!

I have a 6.4m rib with a Mercury BlackMax V6 200 on the back. Nothing wrong with it, in fact I'd say it was in great condition. Trouble is, I'd like something a bit quieter.

So:

How much would an equivalent power 4-stroke cost?

What would I get for my BlackMax?

Is it really worth it?!

The main thought ambling round my mind is you might be tradng noise for a lot of stern weight.

I'll let the big engine bods comment further......

I'd keep it .. by the time you invest in a 4 stroke, re rig everything etc you will probably have spent a few bob, just to drop the noise down. Perhaps most significant that you haven't mentioned is the increase in weight you will be carrying with the 4 stroke, which might significantly alter the way your boat handles .. I say might .. just depends on your set up, but its an unknown quantity until you bolt it on.

Also your performance will be significantly different too, IMHO you'll find the 4's less gutsy unless you went for a supercharged merc, poss slightly larger to get the same poke
