tornado 4.8 what new engine?

hi, as title say's looking for a new engine, at the moment there is a 1994 yamaha 55 on it, bought full package new in 94.

think four strokes might be a bit heavy for full set up as i like to keep it light for launching on the beach!

what do people think about the Evinrude E-tec 65 ?? or any other suggestions ??

thanks phil.

I assume you mean the 75 e-tec? Great motor

If you're looking for something around 50hp, then the 4-strokes aren't too heavy.

I have a Etec 60 hp on my Vailiant DR 490. It is plenty powerful for this boat. I would have thought it a simailar type hull to the Tornado. So I think that a 60 Etec would suit your needs. NB the 40, 50 & 60 hp ETEC are all the same weight circa 112 kgs

I run a 1998 yamaha 50hp 2 stroke on mine, that's fine.
Looked the etec and the Tohatsu aswell if you want to save a bit of cash. The standard tohatsu 60hp came in at a shade over £3k if you can still find one. Or the TLDI nut that weighs and costs more and is a 50 or 70hp.

Phil, If you really want a 4 stroke but are worried about the weight, then i would look at Honda, they have just launched their brand new Bf60 which is only 110kgs, which makes it basically the same weight as a 60hp e-tec.
Worth a look

Regards

Robbie
