Tohatsu tacho gone wrong !!

Just been down and run my rib up and the tacho starts on 0 like normal but as soon as see fires it flys round to 7000 and stays there, is this a electrical fault or tacho !! Happy new year !!

RIBase
I'm sure tacho is fine, but rule out electrical glitch first given the time of year, condensation, etc. Disconnect electrical loom bullet connectors at the tacho, use fine 3M paper to lightly sand, then reconnect. The pulse signal is the green wire. Check the same connections at the engine end too.
