Tohatsu 3.5

Stopped working, sometimes!
Used as donkey on RIB so only a couple of hours running but a hard life.
When testing I couldn't get it started, then I could but it cut out quickly and trying at home the same thing has happened. Either it was totally dead or I could get it started and it cut out after a few seconds.
Cleaned all connectors, cleaned out carb, fresh fuel etc etc seem to make no difference.
Don't seem to be getting a strong spark and as best as I can tell a low voltage going to coil.
Is there a way to test the magneto and CDI unit? No sure what voltages etc I should be getting?

I had te same prob with my suzy. It was a short off the kill switch, so was not a constant problem, jsut every now again. Check the kill switch connections if the tohatsu has one!

already tried that, worked by shorting to earth so just disconnected the whole switch, no joy.
It is not a bad earth or connection as all these have been cleaned, hence who do I check the CDI, magneto and coil?
