Aye when the marine loons are done with them ... I'll have the cast offs for driving my cement mixer which is what theyre better at

And I aint knocking the diesel tech BTW its come a long, long way over the years , just that a 2 stroke is a hard technology to improve upon for an outboard .. calm down etec owners your not perfect yet either

I enquired about a new one a few years ago, after they were special order only. It was apparently the cost of all individual bits bought separately.

A new 225 Opti was cheaper.

We saw a Ribquest with an outboard jet drive that had a disco 2.5 tdi engine in it. Very odd lump sat on the back. Anyone one here?

I'd put a pair of the 300's on the back of the Parker if they needed any serious UK testing!

I couldn't agree more about the latest diesel engines, my toyota has just had a new 3/4 engine, sadly not paid for by mrT, as it was over miles by 6k. These 2,2D4D in the Verso's are known for the head gasket failing, it then needs a new motor because the head and ally block are damaged.

Only almost 4K with a new fylwheel and clutch, its a known fault with this engine and our local toyota dealer does about one a month, wouldn't touch another Toyota again and probably not another diesel motor. Should have kept that old cavalier on the road it had only done 194K miles when I sold it with a great running engine. Only thing was the body was falling to bits.

Tempting fate, but...

maybe I have just been lucky;-
Seat Ibiza 1.9 Tdi - 165,000miles from new in 6 years
Skoda Fabia 1.9 Vrs - 125,000 miles from new in 5 years
Citroen Picasso 1.9 Td - 110,000miles from new in 10 years
LR Defender TD5 - 98,000miles in 10 years

Not one engine issue in all of them combined. For the power and torque, have not even considered buying a petrol engine for over 10 years.

Yours "lucky" Steve
