Tach for 20hp manual start Honda

I just bought a 20hp manual start Honda four stroke with tiller.
Is there a way to connect a tachometer to this outboard?

Found the answer after doing some research.

Inexpensive digital hour/tach meters are available. They have a ground lead and a lead that wraps around the spark plug wire.

In this thread see posts #19 & #20 for the type Jeff and I bought.

They seem to perform and last better than the cheapest types.

Tach for 20hp manual start Honda

Had a few of the Trail Tech TTO’s over the years on various motors.

Not particularly cheap but proved reliable, waterproof and best of all a clear display. Even have the hour only version under the hood on our Mariner 60.
