Suzuki DT 85 Starter motor

Our local search and rescue have an old faithful combination of a 5m Avon with a Suzuki DT 85 on the back. Problem is the starter motor is getting tired and they were quoted $750 from USA for a replacement. This would be out of the question as the whole set up is not worth much more. Anyone out there got contacts where a second hand one may be picked up??

Is it "mechanically tired" or "electrically tired" if you see what I mean... if it's down to re-brush....re-wind..com. cleaning.. then any competent commercial motor re-winders will take care of that for you for a modest sum... just don't tell 'em it's off a boat.
