Suzuki DF140 Warning lights

May be a simple problem or an overactive sensor , but on last 2 runs, after idling / warm up for c.5 minutes I've had a warning light and beeper alert and "Check Engine 3-6" message come up on the digital gauges / plotter.
Oil is fine
Engine temp is fine
Tell tale flowing normally
Engine is not misfiring.
When I switch off and restart the engine the warning does not come on again and I've done c. 30 mile (slightly nervous) runs each time with no problem.

I've looked at the engine manual but can't find any reference to faults 3-6.

Many thanks

LT
Anyone else experienced this?
Engine is still under warranty so I'm not going to start playing with it myself.

Any time there is a code that comes up that is not listed in the manual, you need to call the manufacturer or a dealer near you and ask. This would apply to any product, especially when the unit is under warranty. They are the ones you should be asking this question.

I’d echo that certainly get something in writing to a dealer so your rights under warranty are protected

Bob, appears to be an o2 sensor code. With its low hours I'd suspect a faulty sensor rather than just needs a clean. I don't know the ohms spec to test. Easy replacement if manufacturer confirms my suspicion.

Digging around I can see that there seems to have been an oxygen sensor redesign and also an ecm recall on some of these. Worth checking if your serial number is one of these affected.

I'm pretty certain that a heater fault in the O2 sensor, you will probably find that it is open circuit.

The symptoms you describe are typical of this type of fault .............

We had the same thing last year on our 2015 DF140. Faulty sensor replaced under warranty fixed it.

Thanks Dan. Mine's a 2016 DF140A but could be a late 2015 build.

Bounced it back to the dealer this morning,...awaiting reply. Ran engine at idle on the pontoon. Same as before...just on 5 mins of engine turning over in neutral (800rpm) warning message beper came on " check engine 3-6". Switched off, then restarted, ran for further 15min no warning light / sensor.

Will see what answer I get back tomorrow.

Yeah, sounds the same symptoms as hours. Apparently it's a fairly well known failure, and an easy fix apparently. I reckon the fact that the engine is performing fine suggests that it's the sensor on the fritz rather than a working sensor detecting a problem. But I'm no expert!

Thanks for the advice, thought I'd give update (belatedly!)
Local agent has efficiently swapped the O2 sensor for a new one and sent off to Suzuki. No charge (as yet).

Engineer's message left on 'phone was "it will likely be a warranty replacement unless there's been water ingress - which happens from coming off the plane to quickly and swamping the back of the engine"

Not sure how that event can be proved one way or another! I know that hasn't happened, but how to prove it? Now awaiting view from Suzuki.

Good news, the new sensor seems to have solved the problem.
Took the boat for an hour with no warning message after 5 min of idle / warm or any time during the test in a fairly lumpy Torbay

Thanks Dan.

Must be better than last season - only 5 trips out (but good ones)- out due to a family terminal illness and then me snapping my biceps tendon

Here's hoping anyway
