Hi Chaps,
I have checked the prop and the numbers are as follows - S1400 and 11 3/8 x 14.
What does that tell you about the engine. Prop looks very well kept and pronounces that it was made in Japan, so may be the original?
The serial number is 05501 012235. Can you date it from that, DHD?
Also, I have a Honda key switch fitted and the Suzuki kill cap, but so far I cant find anywhere closeby who keeps those items. Any ideas where I can get them at a sensible price online - I would be mad going out with only one key and kill cap!
Edward

Your prop is a 14" pitch. I reckon that may be too fine for a lightly loaded SR4, but give it a run and see what max RPM you get.

Your motor is 1990.

Could you get the key copied in one of those stalls at your local market?

For a replacement killcord, try IMS, as I suggested in an earlier post. Failing that, you may have to ring a few Soozook dealers to see if they have one in stock. They haven't been used for around 15 years though, so you may struggle to get hold of one.

Thanks DHD, I will google IMS and see what I get.
I cant check on revs as its got no counter on it. Are they easy to find and fit?

Rev counters are easy to fit - cut a hole in the console, fix the tacho and run a cable to the black & yellow fly lead coming out of the control box. If you want to be really posh, you can wire in the light so you can see what RPM you're running at in the dark.

Did someone mention cutting an ole?

You'll Be OK towing skiers then - my old SR4 had a Suz 25 of similar vintage & ran fine with a 13" prop!

If the carbs are similar design to the 25/ 30, there is a "wot stop screw", which I suspect won't give you much more than a couple of HP drop, but if replaced by something longer......

Alternatively, some versions of the control boxes have multiple holes for the throttle cable - you may be able to miove the connector in a pin or two & limit the cable travel a bit.

And welcome to ribnet!

instead of pressing the "reply" button at the bottom, press the "quote" button in the post.

(in the following paragraph, I;ve had to replace the [ and ] symbols with { and } sdo as not to confuse the computer.I'll use this as an example)

The text of the post you hare quoting shows up in the box you type in lookign like this:

{QUOTE=Edward Harrison;356007}
Not sure how to quote sections like you do yet. {/QUOTE}

To split it, use "copy - pase" copy the bits in square brackets to the beginning & end of the text. and treat it like any other lump of text, e.g. deleting extra stuff not relevant to your comment etc - example:

{QUOTE=Edward Harrison;356007}
Not sure how to {/QUOTE}

Bit where you type your comment

{QUOTE=Edward Harrison;356007}
quote sections like you do yet. {/QUOTE}

Ends up looking like

Different motor though, so you're not comparing like with like. In spite of this, I agree that a 14" pitch prop will be fine for skiing, but the motor may over-rev if the boat is lightly loaded, hence my suggestion of checking the RPM at full beans.

Thanks guys for the help.
I have the control box in bits and have ordered a SS plate to cover the nasty hole in the dash where thge bakelite switch plat went. Will sort a rev counter shortly. Still struggling with the trailer though. May get it changed for one withy bunks. I think its just too damn big for the SR4.

My point was that if a 25 can push an SR4 along with a 13" prop happily, an engine of more than double the horsepower will have no problems, with or without a skier on the back.

I gotta start posting more concisely.........

What max RPM did you get with your 25hp?
