Ok so had a mini Refurb on the rib this year complete wiring, new toys, engine decals and good respray and get excited today and fire her up. As usually she fired up strait away.
Then as I finished up and packed her away I thought I would try the shift and I to reverse like silk but stupidly hard going into forwards throttle
Controller and cables we installed September last year and new.
So I took the controller apart and no issues there
However I did notice that one cable was extremely hard to move
Did the horrible job of dropping g the side cowling off and removed both cables to find out both were super silky and easy to move
Swapped out what I thought was the problem cable for a new one just in case and put back together to find out it's worse than before I fact I can hardly move the control
Are there any known issues with optimax's?
There is what I will describe and a sliding wing nut that turns and keeps the cable in place are these ever an issue?
The instructions for my Merc 4 stroke said you can shift into forwards with the engine off with no issues but should manually turn the prop to shift into reverse. Can't remember which way you had to turn the prop though.
I have found in the past that the lock nut that holds the gear linkage together under the powerhead didnt lock and over time tightened up, with a long spanner try undoing that nut about one turn, if its just that you dont need to take of the p/h.
