SR4 Engine 50hp PTT

Sorry guys i know the question has been asked before, i just want to check the info is still the same recommendation, but also a bit of a price check.

I'm changing the outboard on the boat following the refurb that's starting next month courtesy of a follow forum member.

I'm looking as above at a 50hp PTT electric start. Most threads seems to recommend the Yam 2 Stroke, seen a few comments on the Honda BF50 and one on the Tohatsu due to weight.

Does anyone have and experience, and and recommendation on what i should be paying for these units inclusive of remotes? I want something reliable, so any info on years, models etc.

Cheers

Tom

(Guess i should probably start another refurb thread!)

For a new BF50 4s you will be parting with about £6k. Lovely engine though

SR4 Engine 50hp PTT

Ed (ribraff) has just done / is just finishing a SR4 on steroids which has a BF50 being fitted. Might be worth speaking to him.

I had - until recently - a sr4 with a Merc/Mariner 50. I still have the engine if you want a reliable £1500 engine; although I have a replacement sr4 "in the pipeline"

I'll likely write the BF50 off then purely on cost i think. Plus i didnt click with it being 4 stroke. I'm looking at a budget of 1-1.5k.

@Daniel - Do you have the specs, year model etc?

Looking to purchase one on the next few weeks and then ideally collect when i return from working away mid April

The mariner is hanging up in my workshop in kent at the mo but I'm about to start rigging a 4.5m humber I've stumbled across.. So be quick !!

I don't know the exact age, I'll have to check 199x ?

The engine had a huge rebuild last winter, run perhaps 20 hours since. Loads of receipts and everything working as it should.

Oil injextion; electric start; PTT etc etc.

Clocked at 37knts in the Solent on the 4m SR.

Are those Ron Hale prices including or excluding VAT? They seem very cheap if including VAT.
