Smokey Kad 32

I have a Regal 2200 with a Kad 32 Volvo engine, which when I accelerate especially when I gun it to get a wakeboarder up there is a black slick on the water and black smoke as I pul;l away. I have had the turbo overhauled but still the smoke. Has anyone any ideas or maybe even experienced the same problem. It almost seems that the problem may be the supercharger? Help.

slipping blower belt, or clutch reducing boost, blocked air filter?

can you turn the supercharger pulley by hand, with the engine switched off of course, or can you here the supercharger kick in, about 1800 rpm if i remember correctly.

I have a kad 44 sismilar engine and it is veey fussy about belt tightness currently slipping so I am about to replace belts to restore max power. Air cleaner also worth a look as already suggested . Belts are easy to do looks difficult though.

In Turn
Air filter fine and blower belt replaced.
The revs get to 4000 although I usually go at 3500.
Replaced supercharger blower belt and it does kick in around 1750 1800 revs.
My thoughts are going towards a fault within the supercharger so I may well be on the look out for a recon if they are still about

Hi mate
there is a flap in the pipe work from supercharger, if you run the engine till the charger kicks in and feel if the rubber hose from the charger to the turbo, it should inflate, should be fairly hard when the supercharger is engaged.

Isnt it tother way around? supercharger disengages once the turbo has spooled up? hence smoke and loss of torque if the belt slips, but no loss of top end power. the belts do need to be pretty tight and in good condition, moisture and oil free, or you will get sod all boost until the turbo wakes up.

SC comes in at about 1500/1700 then clutches out at about 2800, once the turbo has spooled up.

The turbos on these are very late to get going.
