It is unlikely that we would pay someone else to do the rebuild, if the people responsible wanted to buy the engine then they would obviously have the option of sending it wherever they like.

Hopefully we will find out today what they propose. Thanks for all the advice so far, the bottom line seems to be that the powerhead is not necessarily a write off but not to hold out hope.
