RNLI Flexible Fuel Tanks

Can anyone help, I have one of these in my Y-Class, it is the older black version. Towards the end of this season it has started seeping fuel out in a couple of places where it has worn. It is very slow, and doesn't always do it, (Maybe effected by temperature).

Does anyone know what material they are made from and if theres any way of repairing them?

Finding it impossible to find a replacement. It saves so much space in the boat compared to a plastic tank!

I'm curious to see if there is an answer to this. I've got a problem with one of the newer orange types. The fabric at the ends is thinner. One hot summer day one of the ends burst resulting in a small hole. Don't really want to chuck away a £200 fuel bladder because of a small hole!

I assume you mean the D Class flexible fuel tank? RNLI part number A6-1022L. If it is then I was offered one for £225 + £10 delivery + VAT.

I have a couple of RNLI D class flexible tanks for sale. PM if you are interested and I can check if the are Port or Starboard. Both in good condition.

CJL I have been offered a 'reconditioned' one from the RNLI for a similar price, I have sent you a PM, maybe they can shed light on the material and whether they can be repaired. Although I expect they replace them as soon as they fail. Tim M, will pass on any info.

I had the same problem with an old D class bladder that was sweating fuel out from one corner
must admit it was an old one & had not been used for years just makes me wonder if they last longer if they are better kept full of fuel.

If it he hole is not in a corner could it be sealed up using a stainless nut and bolt with a couple of fibre washers .

My one was brand new about 2 years ago. The fact it was full of fuel resulted in the damage; with no vent there was some serious pressure going on in the summer heat.

I bought both christizz's tanks in the end. Will remember to be careful in the hot weather, which hopefully we'll have loads of next summer.

There are the Zodiac Bow bladders on the US eBay site, I got one for 800 AUD(make a offer). I think that's about £23

18 Gallon, it should keep my 70 Hp Futura Commando going for a bit.
