Reflashed my Verado 135

Hi,
Last month i sended my ECM to Simonmotorsports.
They flashed the 135 up to 225hp.
Last weekend i tested New props: amazing: gained 450 rpm + went 4pitch up from 15 up to 19.
Topspeed was 68kph@6000 and is now 83,5@6450;
At 64@5000 it juses 10ltr/HR lesser than before.

Wow those are huge gains! All this from just a SW flash?

What's the price difference between a 135 >225 I wonder?

i've read a lot about this company, pretty popular in the states. 225hp from a 1.7 litre block though, you are a brave man/woman!

what sort of cost was this if you don't mind sharing?

As i read many articles on www, i compared the partlist, my mechanic confirmed the 135 is identic to 200 L4-Verado by e-mail and even the US Coastguard let theire motors reflash at Eric's, I dared to sent my ECM to Calefornia.

Aspecialy the Verado can by tuned easy, because of the compressor and the boost controler.

So because the 200 hp is identical, it is just tunedup 12,5%. That's no big deal. I'm not so nerves about the 1,7 liters. At the moment there are severall examples of sustainable downsized motors. At the Veradoclub thera are lots of Verados L4 200hp aver 2000 up to 4500 hours.

I dind,t Dyno, Eric Simon did. with earlier examples. Comparing the testresults of severall configurations with 135 and 200 Verado, to me it is clear it is not just 200hp.

The investment:
Shipping including Insurance at 2500 euro and 2x some duancost
143 euro +30 USD en 162usd + 55 euro;
Reflash Simonmotorsports 850 USD
Propeller enertia 3x14.25x19 689,-
Hubkit allready -/-30,-.
Expected return Enertia 15p -350,-
TOTAL INVESTMENT 1375,-

excellent info, thanks!

given that mercury make a 225 but it is a 6 cylinder that suggests they thought getting 225hp out of that block questionable, to me anyway. there is a very severe weight (and cost no doubt) penalty for going for a 225hp verado over a 200hp so they limit their market potentially.

i am in no way suggesting it won't work, i don't know! i'm only saying that is a lot of power from a small block and if it was possible without repercussions then surely mercury would have done it you would have thought? perhaps it is related to emissions or warranty concerns down the road, could be many things.

i did look at simons previously and was toying with upgrading my df200 to the 250 but i'm not sure if that is possible with suzuki as i THINK there are differences with air intake, maybe look into it some more.

The L6 was starting at 200 and the L4 stopt at 175 for the Gen I; The L6 Gen I can be reflashed up to 275; The Gen II Starting at 225 can be reflashed up to 315hp;the main thing is that mercury programmed savely for US 87octan end the reflash is tuned for US 91 octan; us 91 octan = eu ron95.

There is a revieuw of the US COASTGUARD on ribnet: they sail allready severall years with 2x L6-225 reflashed upto 2x 315hp

can you provide link to the coastguard flashing their outboards? interested to see that as google doesn't bring up anything obvious.

seems a strange thing to do for a government vessel, wasting money has never been an issue previously for them!

Ask them by e-mail: info@simonmotorsports.com or call them. They will tell you all details.

when i said waste i mean if they wanted 300hp they normally just buy 300hp, not 200 plus an ECU flash.

i will do more reading should it be possible with my engine.

i would love to know how they can add 90hp and save fuel, beyond my knowledge though i'm afraid.

Simon just replied, they can only take my engine upto 220hp and costs 650 dollars, maybe worth it for some but not my for me.....250 i would have considered. I dont need the power anyway so more fuel money!
