Hey up Rocky, where have you been .....................

Loads of contradictory posts on here about speed but get your point about every boat been different in weight distribution (fuel tank locations, console and seat positions) and prop setups etc having an effect on top speed

Anyway once thing is certain is your boat is quicker than mine especially when I'm parked on a sandbank

It's all about the proppin' gonad boy.
If top end is yer thing, then prop for it, but you'll sacrifice all the good low down stuff that you'll need for decent heavy weather handling.

I doubt very much if you'll ever see 55knts out of a 6.5/200HO combo, unless you get into fancy race props, which would kill any hole shot, grip or acceleration. Every knot over 50 will be very hard gained.

The Vipermax hull isn't built for speed, there are plenty of lighter, pointier things out there if that's your bag.

Forget speed in a Vipermax go for lowdown power, from memory I was hitting 50 with a 21 but the acceleration form a 19 was breathtaking, turned your stomach over

The 200 verado is a 1.6L supercharged animal which comes with hydraulic steering and a battery in the price

For me it was a no brainer

There is 50 knots if you want it, but cross some seas and use it like the great all rounder it is

Fantastic hulls. Punch well above their weight.

I cruised with plenty of 7m+ boats in my VM 6m never felt like the underdog.

The reality is you'll nearly always be under 40knts so like Alex says don't over prop to obtain top speed...

You've not been out with Deano then... He went right round Anglesey in rough weather chasing a Stingher. he got him in the end too when his sunbed blew off!!

I wasn't looking at the speedo, I was a tad busy at the time keeping us the right way up The Whispermax did go very well, we were trimmed out and pushing every last knot out of her.

nice vid Alex, I think I spotted us towards the end, that was a long day out for me, I wasn't sure I'd even make it out of the Straits that day, never mind getting round the island, I was about half way through my 6 months course of chemo then
