I am currently in the process of "cleaning" my S/S props.
I am using a sander with an additional Bosch vibrating "knife".
I am trying very hard not to cut into the surface of the props.
I am only removing the dirt/grime/seaweed etc that has accumulated during the season.
Does anyone tell me if this is OK? Or am I being too cautious?

Don't know what your 'vibrating knife'

is made of, but if you use ferrous metal on stainless, it will encourage rusting, as ferrous particles get embedded in the surface of the stainless.

I'd be inclined to use something less hostile than a sander & knife on a polished stainless surface.

Any scratches, tool marks etc will encourage rust. Even a bit of scotchbrite will make the polished finish disappear and encourage tarnishing.

I use this, paint it on, leave for 15 mins, hose off. Voila - brand new prop

Same goes for the rest of my stainless

Q Rail have a UK distributor but I'm not sure if they deal with non-trade customers.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a load in and selling it locally or to Ribnetters. It's not cheap at £30 per 500ml but is brilliant stuff and I've developed a method of applying it that minimises wastage so it'll go quite a long way. I'm guessing you could clean a 2" double A-frame similar to mine maybe 25 times?

If there is expressions of interest and people are willing to take the plunge then I'll do it

I'm not going to make anything on it, just being neighbourly!
Luckily I don't hold you solely responsible for pushing my income tax up to compensate for the company tax which was abolished in response to you lot undercutting us!

Can't make my mind up whether I want some too or not. If you need an extra bottle to make up an order then I'll gor for it, otherwise not too fussed. Mind you I like the idea of Brian paying the carriage costs.

I've asked for a quote on 6 bottles, I'll just buy them in and sell to whoever wants it. You don't have to worry so much, being local qualifies you for a free sample
