Doesn't sound that bad the Barras price.

Daft question but shouldn't have the rubber bush have give in first.

Once everything went wrong I was in a bit of a rush to get the boat on the trailer as I had to catch a ferry an hour later! Am planning to take the leg off this afternoon and investigate.

So it could just the bush in the centre of the prop. That would give the same symptoms as what you've got.

Barras price sounds not too bad - new head for my 200 was quoted at well over 1000 _ VAT ! Maybe an obvious question - Was it not insured for this ?

Hopefully its the prop bush . Would you consider moving to an alloy prop after this ? Albeit with drop in performance.

Best of luck & can happen to the best of us.

From memory the wording on the insurance policy says the excess (which I think is 200) is doubled for underwater damage. If it ends up being really expensive the insurance should cover some of it. Will update later when I've had a look at the engine.

Yes certainly would consider changing props - only using the stainless as thats what it came with!

Oh well - if you buy it yourself or get it on insurance looks like you are in for around 400 whatever . Can you get a prop redone if its gone in the hub ? Or will you be in for a few hundred for a new prop anyway ? Anyone ?

You can get the props re-bushed and get the blade repaired.

Finally some good news! Went and had a poke around earlier, quickly discovered that the bush on the prop has indeed gone and it could be turned on a static prop shaft. Ten minutes later spare prop put on, job done Will send prop off to steel developments for repair.
