prop removal & maintenance

hi all, I plan to remove my prop soon (yamaha 80) & regrease it all as it hasnīt been done yet this year.

Donīt suppose anyone knows what size spanner I need? boat isnīt nearby so prefer to take the right one. & any marine grease in particular I should use?

Any other tips welcome.

Appreciate any advice, just searched the forum & not been covered.

Cheers

Also, can I reuse the split pin or should I buy a few spares.

Block of Wood

Take a decent length of wood to put through prop / gear casing so you have some purchase to stop prop rotating.

You really need a socket rather than spanner but afraid I am not sure what size. If you use spanner it will be at an angle due to recess in prop and you may round the nut off.

Definitely replace split pin, these cost pennies or in your case cents!!!

Good luck

Make sure the spacers in the prop can't get lost if you drop them while removing the prop.
