Prop advice. Honda BF100

Iv just had a new Honda BF100 fitted to my 5.8m northcraft rib. Running the alu 17p prop. With 3 guys and 100ltr of fuel so fully loaded. It’s taking a bit to get on the plane. Once on the plane WOT I’m achieving 46mph at 6400RPM. Iv been advised that a stainless 13.25” x 17p prop will improve hole shot and still keep top end speed. Even if I loose a wee bit of top end I’m not too bothered. I just want it up on the plane and to plane better at lower speeds. 4 blade was another option but reading into this it will effect my fuel consumption. And as longer range crusing is my aim for this year I want best consumption possible.

So is anyone running a similar set up or have a better knowledge of props than myself (which is zero) I don’t want to shell out on a new stainless prop if it’s not going to give me what I need.

Hi ,pretty dim on props myself ,however i was running same ally as you on a 2014 honda vtec bf90 on highfield 5m ,after damaging it i bought mi wheel apollo st st same dia and pitch and fitted ,all i can honestly say is first time out it scared me (everything happened that much quicker ) i cant account technically for what was happening but massive improvements were there ,i was however a lone so not alot of weight on board , when i got the ally back from repair i put it back on again and it did change the thrill ,
most will agree you only feel prop improvements the first couple of times out as they quickly become the norm ,still have the st st and want to try on my 115 when i get a new hub

Spoke to steel developments and they have suggested a 4 blade 17p I will try the alu 4 blade first and take it from there.
