problems with a 30

keeping it nice, short and sweet would it be a problem to chuck a 30hp two stroke on the back of a boat rated to a 25hp?

hi
in my oppinion, as long as the transom is solid, and the boat is not too old, it should be ok, although, insurance may be more expensive, if the engine is bigger than recomed. another factor is that a 30hp 2 stroke is probably lighter than a 25hp 4 stroke.

i clame to be no expert, but if not i am sure others with more knowledge will correct me!

118118 is right, but sometimes insurance companies will refuse to insure you. Secondly, the import thing is not really HP but engine weight. A 25Hp two stroke will probably use the same block as the 30 so will weigh the same.
118118 is also right in saying four strokes are significantly heavier than a tommy two-stoke.
I am sure somebody, possibly Phil Davies made some comparisons between engine weights, and posted it on here. Might be worth doing a search.

I would think it would be fine.

Insurance, as the others have said might be a problem. Your probably only going to want third party on that given it's age.

Hope to meet up and go on an East coast cruise sometime; its nice that there is finally someone else out there with a boat, in Norfolk!!
