Poss to upgrade Yam Manual T+T to power T+T?

Hi all, I have a really nice (but slightly older 94') Yamaha 50hp two stroke whick I love but I would really love a power Tilt/trim as I launch/recover my 4.5 metre rib from the beach and it would make life so much easier.......Is it possible to but a tilt/trim unit and controls second hand and fit them?
Thanks for your time.

Easy enough to do if you know what you're doing, but prohibitively expensive unless you buy a trashed engine with the parts you need already on it.

Probably cheaper and easier to sell your engine and buy what you want.

Yeah, it's not too difficult. A Yam of that age has the same clamps as pretty much every Yam & Mariner respray of a Yam between 50 & 90 HP, so finding a PT unit should be relatively easy. A few Merc ones should fit it too, but that does involve a bit of a Microfiche trawl to verify it!

Only thing to watch is that sometime around then the smaller engines switched to a single ram design (as opposed to the 3 ram version). Just make sure which version of swivel bracket you have before you buy the unit.

Another way of doing it is to buy a gubbed one at a sensible price. I got one for my old 55BE for all of £100, but then had to bail out the motor of hydraulic fluid & replace the oil seal & brushes that were so worn they only occasionally touched the comutator!

Thanks for your replies, I know it would probably make sense to sell the engine and get another with power T+T but I am loathed to part with my engine as it has done nothing and buying a second hand oldish two stroke engine is a bit like russian roulette!!
Will keep an eye out for a sutible donor motor

Cheers
Seumus.
