Painting Outboards

My beloved Tohatsu outboard has picked up a few scrapes and scratches down to the bare aluminium. Can I just paint over these with the appropriate paint or do I need to prep/treat the areas first?

would you rattle can your car,
or sand, prime and blend to a perfect finish

Whatever you do .. don't paint over the sacrificial anodes

did mine with rattle cans!
as with all things, it's all in the prep

Tidy .. Did it gain any horses when you stuck the decals on ?

no unfortunatly still just the 30hp
minus the geegee's that have left the stable since it left the factory!
must say i was disapointed when i took the hood off though
someone had painted V8 on it
