Outboard Paint

Hi there! Need to re-furbish the cowl on the Optimax. Can anyone advise on the proper (black) paint to use and where to get it? Also, has anyone a spare set of Saltwater 225 Mercury Optimax decals for sale?

there is a guy on ebay I forget his name that reproduces outboard graphics, If you give him the dimensions and a photo of the old graphics how they are on the cowl itself - he'll knock you some up for a price a hell of a lot cheaper than mercury I reckon, but its up to you really - have a search under outboards on ebay, just make sure he matches up the correct style/font lettering - should look good if you get a good paint finish and new stickers

- then again being such a nice unit and money no object splashing out on the original oem graphics might be your bag, most chandlers would probably order you some

The Paint you want is called Phantom Black. You can get it from any Mariner/Merc dealer.
