Outboard Motor Cover

Just thought I'd post some details of my new cover for the Optimax as it's something I searched for, for quite a while and thought these details may be useful for anybody else on here looking for an outboard cover.

I got it from www.outboardmotorcovers.com and they make covers for all Mercury/Mariner, Evinrude, Johnson, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki outboards. Mine cost $98 including delivery from Canada.

The cover itself is a heavy duty, waterproof cover and is fleece lined and fits the engine perfectly as each cover is individually made to fit your engine. What I found is very useful though is that the leg portion of the cover can be separated from the cowling cover so it can be used on a mooring also (saves cleaning all that bird crap off!!)

Only thing was delivery took 6 wks, but it was free so who cares!!

I would have thought if you took it to a T-Shirt embroidery shop they could do that for you. Just a thought, I got my boat name stitched onto the cover of my Rib then that way it's not much use to someone who may wnat to nick it.

Don't know if its Canadian dollars or US to be honest, I haven't got my credit card statement handy.

As for letting air get to the engine, the fabric the cover is made of isn't air tight like traditional PVC covers. I think its breathable as its made from 100% woven polyester, but is still waterproof.

Just Checked and.....

....it's USD$ which means at $98.00 this is only £53.00 which, in my opinion is bloody good value. As soon as my new baby is confirmed she'll be getting one of these thats for sure.

Glad you're happy with it, mine is still holding up strong with no signs of wear and should keep the Opti nice and snug through the winter months!! Getting a lot of people snooping around the transom of the RIB though trying to read the web address off the cover to see where I got it. Well at least I hope thats what they're doing!!
