optimax wireing

on the piece of loom that connects to the oil bottle sender there is a cable that has had the end connector cut off,it has four wires in, would i be right in thinking that this cable would be to feed the warning buzzer in the control box and is made redundant by the smartcraft setup? i also have a short piece of loom out of the control box with a 4 or five pin connector on and nothing to connect to it, its getting crowded in the underdeck trunking and if its not needed i could cut it out, cheers, mark

The oil bottle cable is for the oil level gauge which is featured on the Smartcraft.

cheers brad , but does the sender wire connect to the engine and then a signal runs to the smartcraft gauge along the blue cable, i dont have the engine here its in a shed at work i am just running the wireing under the deck at the moment, the loom looks like it is made to run the setup either with or without the smartcraft gauges, i may be wrong though

I'm not 100% certain on this, but IIRC the combined loom for the fuel tank sender and the oil tank sender plug into the smartcraft junction box.

I can check on the boat if you like, or Dirk will know.

this pic shows what i have, i am assuming the cable back to the engine is the blue one, its what makes me think the oil level sender connects to the engine and then back to gauges via the blue cable, http://img286.imageshack.us/img286/1...tcraft15lg.jpg

Just had a peek inside the console.

As you suspected, the cable connected to the fuel tank and oil tank sender units runs through the main duct to the motor and is separate from the blue smartcraft cable.
