so in the mean time stop piping up that we are all mugs and you are the only one in the know..........our warranty depends on specifically using quicksilver dfi or quicksilver premium plus.

give me peace of mind and warranty over "cods view" any day!
I have emailed Mercury but they have yet to respond - wonder why?

Any comments on the other post about rock oil???

Well done CP. I'm sure you'll persist with this.

I thought any TCWIII oil was sufficient from a warranty perspective.
Are you saying this is definately NOT the case?

like i said, you have to come up with confirmation that mercury/barrus are happy with the alternative oil, i have the name and phone numbers of contacts at barrus so can quite happily follow up with them to get it confirmed.

Not sure what sort of oil opti oil is but if it is a high grade synthetic or semi then 30 for 4 litres is about the going rate for any make .
I doubt the rock oil would be any cheaper.
I know from friends in the trade that there isn't much to be saved on high grade oils .

However if the Rock oil looks the same and the spec is the same and its much cheaper (which I doubt) then who woulod ever know if you used it . Even if you had a major warranty claim would it even be possible or likeley that the oil was analysed . Also if the motor went pop then empy and refill the tank with opti oil before sending to the dealer .

The VAG 0/30 castrol oil is about 11 a litre if you don't buy from the dealer or 40 a gallon.
