Oops!

Pranged the prop!

I was launching into Lough Neagh and a ragman was flaffing about at the jetty.
I patiently waited my turn, I was launching single handed and so need the jetty to launch, tie up and move the car before moving the boat to a different jetty.
Embarrassed, he at last moved boat et all back and allowed me access.
I launched and he kindly offered to hold ropes etc.
I moved the car and came back and hopped on board.
I started up, turned to stow some gear and he pushed me off !
Wind immediately caught me and pushed me back towards the slip.
I grabbed the throttle and gently put her in gear to get steerage - clunk!
Caught the slip. Engine stopped.
Tilted her and re-started. Gently got away from the slip. Took the slight chunk out of the blade tho.

Anyone from around here know a good repairer?

Sorry to hear that fella; I've lost count of the number of times I've been put in a situation by someone 'helping'...

Your description of a 'slight chunk' made me chuckle though.

On the bright side, thank god it wasn't a stainless prop because you'd probably be looking at some gearbox rebuilding judging by the size of that missing 'chunk'!

I'd ask these guys Home page for a quote first. Maybe ask them about a new prop too, see how it stacks up. It's certainly repairable. It's Christmas, so you might consider both - keep the recon as a spare for the shed out west?

Ouch! ....It happens to the best of us! as long as the Gearbox is OK....it's a result!
Repairable but ...I'd maybe look for decent replacement....if not new,it's a big ol chunk your missing T.

This damage looks some kind of unusual, cause the
other blades look clean.

Shure it was the slip? May be you just disturbed the
home aera of some beaver, and it was a kind of
legal selve defense?

No, i dont really want to joke about your misfortune!!!

It´s cause the teeth print is matching perfect, and if it was
him, may be the misfortune does´nt hurt you so much.

I know a good company in Germany, but i think the
shipping costs turn this senceless.

Propeller kaufen - Gröver Propeller - Propeller-Reparatur

I would like to get a new one too. If not well balanced after
repair, you destroy your gearbox bearings little by little.

Tonymac, might be an idea and its only a suggestion to post prop size etc on here. Loads of stuff tucked away, forgotten, with a lot of rib people. Regards Jim
