By manual handling the very least possible. Keep at home on a trolley/modded sack barrow. Use said trolley to get it right by car for a very short lift into car. Have an estate car with low lift to load floor. Pack car so OB stays in until last. Have transom wheels or folding launch trolley. Set boat up with wheels or on trolley and push transom right up to car so lifting OB onto transom is only a tiny distance. Use boat as a big wheelbarrow to move OB.

Alternative is to get boat right to water and having taken OB trolley with you use that to take OB to boat.

totally agree carrying any motor on any surfaces risks injury & damage if you drop it. i trailer just because of old injuries and the dreaded arthur rightis take it from me you only have one back look after it

+1 for this method. Thatís what I did. Works fine. Motor is still heavy but lifting is minimised.

Hence a lot like 2 strokes - because they are lighter.

Or keep it set up on a trailer if you can.

Suzuki 20hp 4 stroke is very popular due to its relatively low weight.

Donít loose hope. Youíll figure out which method suits you. No one gets their setup right first time. Itís kind of part of the fun with boats. Always learning and improving your setup.

Jeff I also agree about the risks. But why stay with a big SIB if you are not taking advantage of it's foldability and it stays inflated on a trailer all year?

Surely you have increased the disadvantages of a (large) SIB with the main disadvantage of a RIB? You don't even have launch wheels?

Your setup looks great by the way but you'd do the same or better with a solid hull. Just trying to understand...

Agreed. Disappointing no e-tec available at lower hp's and the 30hp is over engineered, overpriced and overweight.

Had loads of boats including 3 x 6 m ribs over the years down sized for retirement the 4 m boat fits in my yard a small rib has no advantage for me with a shallow deadrise will be a bit faster but I have no need of it. I tried transom wheels shite sooner use slips or hard beaches I carry far too much kit and the boat/engine alone weighs 161kg too much for transom wheels anyway and my years as a sherper are over walking up and down beaches, I had my trailer made especially to launch in shallow water with wheels now at the transom bunk which is a game changer in many ways.
Finally I've have more fun in my rubber number now as I did when I started 50 years ago I guess it's like land rover owners and marmite Sib'S are more of a challenge and doing trips of 140 miles wild camping does it for me.OMO by the way

I agree with you Jeff your set up with your trailer is spot on for launching and recovery mine has to go in the water Futher due to the bunks being higher up on the trailer
