Motor for Avon R310

I'm looking for a motor for an Avon R310. Can anybody tell me if I need a longshaft or whatever?

Thanks.

Standard Shaft.

Earlier boats were rated to 10hp, later ones 15hp. Some airdecks had a lower hp rating than the solid floor versions.

Thanks

Many thanks for your quick response. Do you know where I can download a user manual for the rib?

Good fun..

With a 10hp should do 20 knots just.. if the older style 3.10 not 3.11 then 10hp but have used a 15hp no probs too.. depends on condition and if you want extra power. 10 / 15hp 2 strokes are same weight, just a bit more grunt to get on the plane. Mine used to plane 3 up at about 14 knots with a 10hp Mariner fitted with fins on the engine.
Have kneeboarded behind it too with a 10hp, but struggled a bit!

Motor for Avon R310

Do you mean the Rover 310 or the Rib 310?
My first 1979 Rover 310 would plane on a Tohatsu 3.6. They haven't made that engine for years, but it might give some idea. By the way, I weighed 10 stone then.
30 years later, I had an early rib 310 which planed happily with a Yamaha 5. Now I have a 311 RIB, and it would just plane on the Yammie. ( I now weigh 11 1/2 stone). It now has a Tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke on and it flies with Wendy and me in it. Our total weight is 20 1/2 stone.
All the Avons of that size use standard shaft motors.
