DIFFICULT CHOICE

HI ! I AM LIVING IN BELGIUM AND I AM ON THE PURCHASE OF A NEW RIB . THE MAJOR PROBLEM ....AFTER HAVING PAID MY RIB... IS THE QUESTION : WHAT KIND OF MOTOR ????
I LOOK FOR A TWIN ENGINE MOTORISATION, 2 X 135 OR 2 X 150 HP AND I STILL CAN NOT MAKE UP MY MIND BETWEEN EVINRUDE FICHT AND/OR MERCURY OPTIMAX.
IF YOU CAN GIVE ME SOME ADVICE RE- PERFORMANCE / CONSUMPTION, I WOULD BE VERY THANKFULL.....

Hi

I would reconsider your selection of engines and have alook at the new Yamaha 225 Four stroke engine you will only have 1/2 as many problems and the same speed and perforance.

Yam

The only problem with your theory Alan is the fact that Yamaha are so grossly over-priced, you need a huge bank-balance to afford their motors. I grew up in South Africa and we only used Yammies, so I am biased towards them anyway. The price puts me off!

Why not Suzuki

Why not choose the new engine from Suzuki DF140.
This is a 4 strokes engine (140 hp), it is very light for a 4 strokes.

I heard that it was a very good engine.

As far as I know, Evirude stopped producing the Ficht models and have shut down one of their factories in US. So if I had to choose between the two I would certainly go for the Optimax. But Alan's thought is the best. Reconsider your choise and include Yamaha's 4 stroke as well.
