Pull cord stuck, sounds like the start in gear protection clip is broken or catching. Have a look for the white plastic clip on the top of the flywheel housing.

Too much two stroke oil. A bit of smoke is normal, I wouldn't be worried. Have you changed the fuel since the last debacle? I would be tempted to ditch the fuel and start again on 50:1.

Don't fiddle with it as you clearly have limited knowledge of outboard engines.

Take it back to the shop.

sorry, but either take it back to marine engineer who worked on it ,may be unrelated to last work carried out give them the full story and get then to investigate and at least tank test or time to buy new engine and enjoy some time on boat

There is obviously a problem with the engine so you need to get your outboard mechanic to diagnose and then fix it.

Luke are you aware these motors don't pump constant ? Is that what makes you think its overheating ? Did you sort the pull cord out ?

I agree, take it to somebody who can adequately look at it.

could be a number of reasons, like incorrect part, incorrectly installed, or poor quality part.

Or run out of water etc etc. Worth having a chat with whoever put the impeller in.......
