From an enginering point of view, I'm not happy that mercury use the same block for such a wide power variation. The 200,225,250 and 275 all share the same block, although I think that has now been changed, but for the old models the electronics were varied to suit the needs, which suggests a: the 275 is unrealistically thirsty to get the power and b: some dude could remap his 200 to give the full welly

Have request new PCM and lower drive unit and 300 hp sticker set from Belgium for my 275... will not be cheap but worth extra 25 hp

At last a Verado that isn't too heavy for it's power rating - it's pretty close now to the Suzuki 300 - only 30lbs heavier.

I don't know how it is in the UK ore elsewhere, but in Belgium it is hard to find Unleaded premium 92 octane in marina's. Except if you refuel "on the road", operating a verado 275 or 300 might give you some fuel problems.

Can you use regular fuel for those engines and will this only have an impact on the number of "delivered horses"?

Yes. If you run standard unleaded you will produce approx 260 hp from the 275 engine, however at the Miami boat show it was announced that if the ambient operating temp was below 70 degrees then you would get nearer 270 and when below 60 degree you will get the full 275.

The great engine for power that has just been launched though is the Opti 300. This has the power steering from the Verado as an option and is the new generation of Opti so much quiter than previous. Pound for pound the figures look like the cream of the crop right now...

Would really like to hear if it works out for You with that Verado upgrade. I have been thinking the same, but it seems to that You are a bit further in the process!

XS 600 with 275 HP!!!!! How fast does it go?

Agree on the Opti XS but I wonder how well it would suit a heavy boat compared to a Verado or Suzuki 300 - they swing much bigger props which give more thrust at lower speeds.

It is a hell of a dilemma cos I want one!!! If only the new Yamaha V8 wasn't so heavy - maybe I will just wait and see if the V8 ETEC ever arrives.

The new verado 300 use the same block but new inlet camshaft/ pcm07 /gearbox 1.1,75.(1.1,85) for use of old props but more speed.
(not more pressure from the compressor)
what they say awailble in eu sep. but maybe later.??

Hi Henrik I hope to hear from my colleages in Belgium this week regarding availabilities of parts. Was due to have my boat delivered fully fitted last year but got only hull, so this week I am getting the new seats from US and am having the two A frames made. I am having week off from work this week to fit the boat. Also to have the boat trailer made, low profile triple axle trailer. Will let you know ones completed.
