Mercury Optimax controlled with honda throttle?

Hi, Just got a new Merc optimax 250. I have the old Honda dash mounted controls. Is it possible to get cables to make the Honda controls connect to the Mercury Optimax? They are nice controls and would save a few quid as the Merc only comes with side mount controls and its extra for dash mounted.

It's been a while since I played with Honda's, but 10 years ago they used to use re-badged merc controls, so the cables were "mariner" type, with a merc control end, and a threaded 33c engine end. If nothings changed, you could either use Merc cables, or adapters on the 33c end.

Clear as mud no doubt!!!!

There is a 99% chance your Honda controls will have the bog standard throw of almost every mechanical control built after about 1975 on the planet. Just change the fittings on the end of the cables.

I did that going from the Yam to the Merc, and have also in the past borrowed a Tohatsu control to use while I was refurbishing the 703.

You will likely have to do some mucking about with the electrics tho'. Part of the reason I moved mine to the console!

You will run into problems if the Opti is "fly by wire"...
