Mercury oil tank split !

Another mad day yesterday ,
Blew an oil tank seam , 2 stroke oil bottle went ,, this is he main holding tank that is pressurised from engine, then in turn tops up engine reservoir,
Is it just wear and tear. Or could it be over pressurising? Never seen one go before! And it's only approx 6 mths old,
possibly a faulty unit I am thinking leaking at the cap seam, where cap screws down, not the cap it's self,,

My engine can not over pressurise the tank surely?
Did have. A few air borne moments at times where upon I was over revving due being out of the water,

Never seen that before in 6 yrs on our 175opti

However if you cross thread or do it too loose, the system doesn't work and alarms go off.
