Mercury/Mariner 135 V6 oil hose mystery

Just going over the rib I recently bought.

And have been sorting some of the problems and checking things over mainly hoping not too find any nightmares.

So was quite puzzled when I found this hose with what looks like a open connection that from what presume just squirts oil over the engine.

Should this hose be connected to another hose or be left open to the elements.





Any help or info would be great thanks

My opti has one of those. It's internally blanked off, so nothing comes out of the barb.

Odd idea, but thats what it is.

Thats how it's ment to be its a vent valve I think


But it's been as that on many a merc mariner lump I have owned, they used to have a plug on them but modern engines do not

Yeah that's normal it's a air bleed for the oil system.
