Hi, thanks for your reply. I now know what breakerless ignition is so thanks. I just wondered if you would know, do I need to disconnect anything from the hand re-wind starter etc. When I set up the engine for electric start.

No, not as long as you can fit the old recoil under the cowl.

When I made mine electric start, I just left the hand start mechanism in place. There was no need to touch it. It's handy to have it there in case the battery goes flat, as did mine Two years back. Turned out to be a faulty battery.
