So what emerges is that cheap impellors might fail but genuine spares shouldn't ? I'm always looking at the tell tale but have always been reasonably confident that if it's been replaced with a new one it should be fit for purpose.
Bit of a worry when you think of the cost if one fails. The only time that I've ever shut down was when my old 85 Yam started spluttering with no tell tale........... turned out to be the pipe separating under the hood & soaking the electrics but it did cause initial panic !

The labour part seems very low at 90. I suspect the final bill if you have it repaired will end up much higher.

I would be tempted to sell the engine for spares, and start again with a different engine.

as you seem to be on a tight budget, and who isn't these days, I think I would go for getting the engine rebuilt, as long as you can get them to agree to not going over the quote without talking to you first

I would be worried that getting it repaired may end up more expensive than selling it for spares and then buying a replacement. Repairs often end up costing more than the original estimate due to unexpected problems.

I'm just saying be careful and ensure that it's clear who takes the hit if the repair takes more labour time or needs additional parts.
