I have had my claim rejected by the insurers because of the policy wording, it states that the engine is not covered if the incursion of water is into the engine alone, if the water had come into the boat and the engine then I would have been covered!! The bas---ds will try everything to wriggle out of paying, I am not giving up on this because in the documents called keyfacts that I received when I took out the policy it doesnt state this at all. Any insurance experts on here willing to give me adive?

Have you confirmed the root cause?

That will likely determine any recourse you may have.

The root cause hasnt been determined to my satisfaction, the surveyor is saying that the exhaust manifold has cracked because of freezing, Victoria Dock has no records of water freezing for last three years, I have done over 100 hours on the boat this past season without any problems. I have ABC Beaumaris now providing me with a letter stating that there was water in the boat when it was retrieved, see how that goes??

Not spoke to Ian chris because all the work has been done by ABC in the past and they are trained mercruiser engineers ;-)

So after a lotof emails to and fro from the insurance they have made me an 'offer' of 4500, I am waiting to hear back on prices for a new engine from a couple of places but still not sure what figure I am looking at. Do I take the first offer or what do I reply to their first offer? Any help gratefully received because I have never been in this situation before

Wait until you know costs. Then you're working from a known point & can negotiate.
