mercruiser 1.7 DTI

Hi does anyone know where i can take my turbo and waste gate to get it checked out or refurbished. Dont really want to ues a mercriuser dealer at there prices but if thats the case then so be. Im in the southhamton area but dont mind to travel to a good place if somebody knows one. Juat got to get it off the boat now' its been working fine for ten years now so think its due to be checked. Plus been getting some big boost readings lately.
Many thanks for any help Tony.

Easy to do quick check on wastegate just remove c clip holding actuator arm to wastegate. The wastegate should move freely. Hope this helps.

I used to have one of these (terrible) engines. Kings Marine sorted it pretty cheaply.

Hi Tim m Ive had mine ten years without any major problems so cant be that bad. Have read some reports on forum about this engine and waste gate problems leading to engine failure. I dont thrash mine about at full revs ' only now and again think that why its lasted this long.

I had one of these as well.
So long as you knew what the issues could be you could deal with them.
That aside, I always found it a reliable engine.

Great little engine as long as a careful eye is kept on the turbo and waste gate.

A lot of info on the Arvor forum re the waste gate/turbo issues.

I had a mercruiser 220hp on an Arvor 25 not a minutes bother with it.
