Merc 90 electrical funnies

Howdy Gang,
I'm helping a friend out with his 90 3 cylinder 2 cycle merc. jet drive motor.

We just got the puller to remove the flywheel and replaced the stator and damaged flywheel now we have spark
BUT
The wiring has been messed with and what looks like a rectifier has 4 yellow wires on it . The "rectifier" was not bolted down and just hanging by the wires.
The thing that seems strange is that there are two wires(yellow) from the stator on one bolt and two wires(yellow) from the voltage regulator on the other bolt.

That doesn't seem right- if both of the wires from the stator are on one bolt why not just have one wire coming down.

Does anybody here have a idea or a motor that they could look at.
thanks
hank

You didn't say how old or wether it has CDM but this is for a pre CDM with the 2 yellow wires. PM me if you want a full size copy. If its the wrong engine let me know the year and I should have it in the book too.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the attached wiring photo.
I see that the wires from the stator go to each end of the rectifier and like wise the two yellow wires from the regulator. That makes sense -I think the last owner must have replaced some parts and got messed up.

I'm not sure what CDM is and don't know what year the motor was built.

btw that is a interesting photo on the dive site - is the diver making a mixed gas dive?

I appriciate the help
hank

No problem. The CDM is just a newer ignition system.

If you mean the main pic on the TUE site, the diver is doing a 30m Nitrox dive with a 50% stage for accelerated deco. I tend to use the same for all of the 30-40m diving I do.
