Merc.90 4-stroke water in oil

Hello ribbers,

This afternoon i did some inspections on my friends boat engine.
Mercury 90 hp 4-stroke year 2000
When i pulled the oil level gauge out,
i noticed a higher level on the gauge then normal.
I decided to take some oil out from the engine.
There was a lot of water coming out the first moment.
I think there is a problem with a gasket between the powerhad
and the upperleg.
Is there anyone who now this problem and to resolve it.

Thanks for replay.

Could be a number of things, its time start stripping to investigate.

Are you 100% sure the engines not been under water?

The merc 90hp Four Strokes are normally bullet proof!

water in oil

As quoted ,it could be many a thing but i would stab a guess at, rubber seal for water pipe into adaptor plate plus some corrosion, off power head for that job, and not to bad ajob.

Thanks Jono and Paul,

We will take of the power head this week-end.
Just ordered the gaskets at the local dealer.
Hope we will find the error.
I will post the results of this examination.
