The optimax 115 is a 1.5L inline 3-cylinder engine, it's about 10lbs lighter than the merc. 4 stoke (inline 4-cylinder). From what I hear it's faster than the 4-stroke, gets the same gas mileage, and it's just as quiet! Both great engines
I was about to pick up the 115 opti, but decided to go for the 135 opti.

No it does'nt Daniel. I picked the 135 over the 150 because their was a $2,000 difference. I wanted the 150, that's the max rating for the zodiac. I also talked to a few guys who run the 135 and 150's on the same ribs and told me you wont notice the difference.

Cheaper yes, but physical weight is the same ... the 135, 150, 175 are all 195Kg, i had the same decision to make and the 150 came in 3000 less than the 175.

for info the merc optimax 75,90 &115 all have the same block.
From 1987 the 115 2 stroke went straight 4 inline.
