Mayonaise/Oil at top of leg - normal?

Hi all,

quick bit of advice please. I have a really nice Mariner 15hp 2 stroke on the F-rib which runs like a dream The only thing I notice is that I seem to get a bit of oil pushed up out of the top of the leg. Noticed it especially on Saturday as we took it for a long run (about 6 hours) as part of its shakedown before taking up to Scotland in a few weeks time.

These pics show where it is coming from, top of the leg where it pivots. These were taken after I flushed/cleaned it so it looks a bit worse when straight outta the water.

Just wondered if this is normal or should I be investigating further? It could just be grease being pushed out of the bearing where the leg pivots but thought I would check

Cheers,

Paul.

PS: How do i rotate images - they are the right way round before uploading?

Yes, its grease on the pivot tube, which is perfectly normal and correct.

This is normally re-greased via the lower grease nipple on every service.......
