Mariner Marathon 25hp 2 stroke Cooling Problem?

I've just noticed intermittent water/spray/steam coming from the water cooling outlet but a steady stream from the tell tale. Is this normal or do I have a problem?
I was running the engine in a barrel just to flush it out prior to winterising it.
The engine is virtually new and only done 10 hrs or so

I think I might have found the answer from the following post by Psyco on another thread.

"If it is the thermostat type engine, then nothing will come out until it gets up to temperature, allowing the stat to operate. And then you will only get a dribble, compared to a powerful jet that you get on normal 2 strokes."

I'm hoping this is the case with my engine, it's a 2011 model but I don't know if it is fitted with a thermostat. If it is, then that would explain the erratic water cooling outlet.

Yeah it's completely normal the water won't come out of the tell tale until the thermostat is open.

Cheers Turbo, thing was, the pee hole was peeing out but the cooling vent was a mixture of steam and spray.

Maybe worth checking the thermostat is working properly too in that case. It will work fine with it not fitted but will just run a bit cooler. The mod versions of those engines run with no thermostat.
