I have had a few of these in the field . just another check really . baz
Thanks for the above advice, I really appreciate that people are trying to help. I have no real access to the boat to try anything out, it has been with the dealers now for 6 weeks.
I passed on the info re the interrupter switch from "wavelength" but no feed back as yet from the experts. I will see if they think it is a timing problem but do not hold out any hope for a fix in the near future. I want to put a new motor on the boat but have been told the one I want is not available until end August.

Still, on the plus side, it's not getting worn out with excessive use!

I have a complete engine in bits if you need to borrow anything to try. I spent 2 days trying to sort miss on one of these, turned out a magnet in flywheel were broken! Pm me if you need anything.

Let me see if I understand correctly:

1. You (a new member) offer here for "scrap" an eight year old motor which
2. Your dealer can't/won't/can't be arsed fixing
3. Because you're going to buy a new one from him later when it suits him

Right, I think I see the problem

Yep, that about sums it up. It's better than that, I am expecting a large bill for a new CDI unit whilst the old one is perfectly ok it would appear, so if you want a new CDI unit at a knock down price you can have that as well.

I think Willk's point is - why would you consider giving any more business to someone who (1) can't get your existing engine fixed (and thinks its ok to charge you for replacing working components); (2) can't get you the engine you want in a sensible timescale?
